Parga, the diamond of Epirus
Parga is a small, cosmopolitan village in
the Epirus region of north-west Greece. There are daily boat
excursions from Parga to the beautiful Ionian islands of
Paxos and Antipaxos and to the nearby beaches Valtos,
Lichnos and Sarakiniko. There are many interesting, and some
legendary, places in and around Parga well worth visiting;
the springs of Acheron river, Nikopolis, Zaloggo, the
Necromanteio and Kassiopi to name but a few.
The lush, green landscape of Epirus is unique in Greece and
provides the perfect backdrop for the lakes and rivers in
the area; the vast mountains, the longest range in Greece,
reach all the way down to the seashore. The stunning coast
is lined with long, sandy beaches but is also host to
countless cosy, little bays tucked away between the cliff
edges, accessible only by boat.
The region is ideal for active holidays in Greece; learn
windsurfing or water skiing on Valtos beach; horseback ride
or raft along the river Acheron; if you like hiking or
mountain biking you can find many trails throughout Parga.
You can even obtain the "PADI" international diving license
from the diving school in Parga.
